Subject - Verb Agreement

Subject verb agreement refers to a situation in a sentence whereby the subject and verb are either both in singular or both in plural. It would not be appropriate to have a singular subject with a plural verb or vice versa. It is important to observe this so as to avoid errors in sentences.
The correspondence of a verb with its subject in person (first, second, or third) and number (singular or plural).
The principle of subject-verb agreement applies to finite verbs in the present tense and, in a limited way, to the past forms of the verb to be (was and were).
